Roanoke, VA and Kingsport, TN

We drove to Roanoke, VA for bike riding, only to find that they had a bike riding event through town and its bike paths so we weren’t able to ride there. Since we were already in the area, we had brunch at Bread Craft and headed to Blue Ridge Mountain. It was too hot and too far from the parking lot to the trail with no shade so we decided we’d make our way toward Tennessee and stop by a bike trail somewhere along the way.

We went to Warrior’s Bike Trail (Kingsport, TN) and went on a small off-road course called Darwin’s Revenge. It’s not a paved bike trail and is a bit challenging for our toddler but he made it. (To understand more of his bike adventures and skill level, read about it here). There are a lot of up-hills and down-hills, and walking the path with a close-to-30-lb. child in an Ergo was quite the work out. The parking lot is small but we saw a patrol officer before heading down, so we stopped and asked if there would be enough space for a truck and trailer. He said because there were only 2 cars there, we’d have enough space to turn around. So we went into the parking lot and turned it around so that in case more cars came, we’d have enough space to at least get out of the spot. Before heading into the parking lot, I’d recommend walking down to see how much space there is if you’re going with an RV. If it’s just a car, there’s room and quite enough space for cars.

After the trail, we headed to Knoxville to grab dinner at Tupelo’s Honey to go. We sat on a bench as per our toddler’s request and ate dinner. We then headed towards Franklin and parked in the Lowe’s lot there overnight.
