Markward Playground

If you walk on Locust, Spruce or Pine to 25th Street, you're bound to walk into Taney Park's Markward Playground. There's a couple of basketball and tennis courts that are full during fall, spring and summer months. There's a dog park for small and large dogs but best of all, there's a playground for various ages. There's 3 different playground sets and the littles playground is at the farthest end next to the Markward Rec Center. Some caretakers bring some chalk so kids can draw on the ground. During the weekday, the Rec Center is open which helps for those potty breaks and hand washing needs. During the school year, it can get crowded as a school group comes to play at Markward for recess. We've seen summer campers during the July and August months so it can get crowded. If you have littles, we recommend going early in the morning during the summer. On the way home, we've always enjoyed walking along the path to see the dogs in the park or to see the "sleeping trains".
