Adventure Aquarium

Adventure Aquarium in Camden, NJ is a place our family has enjoyed. It's our family go to for any day, especially rainy or cold days. It's a quick Septa ride from 16th and Locust Street to Camden Broadway/City Hall stop. Our toddler loves riding the train to the aquarium. It's $2.80 round trip for an adult Septa ticket and children under 5 are free. We get off and walk from City Hall stop and walk straight down Market Street. It's about a 20 minute trip from Center City to the aquarium. We have a one year membership and because our child is under 2, he's free. If you live in Center City, the membership is definitely worth it. The 3D movie changes frequently so parents won't have to watch the same thing too many times and they also have holiday events that were fun to attend.
We love the close encounters with the hippos (feeding time is our fave!), penguins, stingrays (petting them) and walking over the shark bridge. The staff is so kind and friendly we've gotten to know more about the animals because of them.
Here are some CONS:
If you decide to take Septa, there's no elevator at the Camden Broadway/City Hall stop. Either you carry your stroller up 2 flights of stairs, hope that someone gets off with you or just carry your child in your favorite carrier. If you decide to take your car, parking is $10 each time. Membership only gets you $5 off and it's not free.
They've also made a soft playground outside for kids under 42 inches. When aquarium staff are there to enforce the height max, it's a safe place to play with a canopy that covers the majority of the play area. When aquarium staff aren't present, you need to be careful as some parents and school teachers allow their beyond the height limit kids to run and jump around which is a bit scary around the littles. I've mentioned this to the staff and emailed them. They let me know that the playground is off limits to school groups, however they don't have staff to monitor that all the time. So parents, just be aware.
