Laundry

During our 30-day truck and RV rental, we only stayed in an RV park for a total of 10 days. We tried 5 RV parks:

Hershey RV Park

Roseburg RV Park

Redding RV Park

KOA RV Park

Bay Area RV Park

(We talk about each one briefly here and their websites can provide you with more info.)

Having a toddler and a baby learning to eat solids can lead to having more laundry than expected. Having a way to do laundry was really helpful.

We never once used an RV park laundry facility. In fact, for 60 days (30 days in the RV, 30 days in a hotel… That’s another story for another time), we didn’t use a laundry machine, but instead used the Scrubba exclusively for laundry. It gave us peace of mind that no matter where we were, we could do laundry as long as we had running water. The majority of our clothes are from Japan and Europe, which means line-dry only anyway, so we didn’t miss having a dryer. It was also summer so we weren’t washing really heavy denim or pants, so that helped as well and laundry dried fairly quickly.

Having lived in Manhattan and Philadelphia and having used coin laundry, I didn’t know what people were putting in the laundry machines at RV parks. Therefore, I didn’t feel comfortable washing baby clothes in a machine that could have had pet items or shoes thrown into it to be washed. Having the Scrubba with us meant I knew we were the only ones using it; I could do laundry virtually anywhere, anytime; and it didn’t cost us anything to launder our clothes.

This is the laundry detergent we used during the trip. However, we started using regular body soap after a while and that was fine.

When we stayed in a hotel, this is how we hung the laundry.

For those making long or short trips, I do recommend this product because it’s so easy to use and it doesn’t take much space or weight to travel with it!
