Roots to River Farm

31 May 2018

We frequently visit my parents in Northern NJ. There's a no toll way that we take that has us driving through some rural areas including Titusville. One day, we saw a sign that was out on the road that said fresh organic produce. We decided to take a detour and followed the signs. We're so glad we did!

Our detour led us to a place called Gravity Hill Farm (or now called Roots to River). It's so perfect for a small "getaway" from Philly. It's about an hour drive and well worth it for a short day trip. Fresh air, soft grass for walking, yummy organic veggies, and some farm animals! They have horses, donkey, alpacas/llamas, goats, and chickens.

They also have a little cafe where you can purchase food and we've sat outside for a little picnic to eat while we're there. We're unable to do a CSA because we aren't able to make a consistent trip to get our veggies but when we get to go, we buy LOTS!

They also sell their produce at local farmers markets so visit their site for more details.

Update (9/30/18):

They now have a flower garden! (Which I didn't know they had!) You can pick your own for herbal medicine use or just because they're pretty. We bought some chamomille for tea, lavender, rosemary and mint. We tried Stevia for the first time and oh boy they're SUPER sweet! I heard that you can place some Stevia in black tea and makes a really good sweetened ice tea.
